WWE superstar Becky Lynch joins Star Trek: Starfleet Academy

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy has gained a new member of its bridge crew. WWE superstar Becky Lynch has joined the cast in the upcoming series set in the 30th century after the conclusion of Star Trek: Discovery.

Lynch announced the news on her Instagram in a video, telling her fans “I am so excited to share with all of you that I am joining Star Trek: Starfleet Academy as part of the bridge crew” and signing off with the iconic Vulcan salute. You can watch her announcement video below.

Starfleet Academy will follow a group of young cadets as they begin their training to join Starfleet while uncovering a conspiracy that threatens the Federation. The series stars Academy Award winner Holly Hunter as Starfleet’s chancellor and Paul Giamatti as the mysterious villain.

The series will premiere on Paramount+, but a premiere window has not yet been revealed. It is currently still filming in Toronto.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy will follow a young group of cadets who come together to pursue a common dream of hope and optimism. Under the watchful and demanding eyes of their instructors, they discover what it takes to become Starfleet officers as they navigate blossoming friendships, explosive rivalries, first loves and a new enemy that threatens both the Academy and the Federation itself.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy stars Holly Hunter, Kerrice Brooks, Bella Shepard, George Hawkins, Karim Diané, Zoë Steiner, Sandro Rosta, Paul Giamatti, Tatiana Maslany, Gina Yashere, Becky Lynch and Star Trek alums Robert Picardo, Mary Wiseman, Tig Notaro and Oded Fehr.

Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau will serve as showrunners and executive producers Star Trek: Starfleet Academy with Gaia Violo having written the pilot episode as well as executive produce. Also serving as executive producers are Aaron Baiers, Olatunde Osunsanmi, Jenny Lumet, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, Frank Siracusa and John Weber.
