Young Justice season four titled Young Justice: Phantoms

September 13, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Back in July of last year it was announced that the DC animated series Young Justice had been renewed for a fourth season, and during yesterday’s DC FanDome event, the show’s executive producer Greg Weisman has revealed that the new season will be going by the title Young Justice: Phantoms.

“It has and it hasn’t,” said Weisman when discussing if the global health crisis has impacted the show’s production. “We’re all working from home. And for the most part, when it comes to the pre-production, the script writing, the storyboards, design work, we’ve successfully transitioned to working at home. It’s not quite as much fun to not be in the office and have everyone together, but we’re doing it. That’s not a problem.

“The thing that’s been tough is voice recording, where we used to record everyone together as much as possible in a room for the first three seasons,” he continued. “We used to record everyone together, as much as possible, in a room. Every once in a while there was someone who couldn’t make a season. That obviously has changed. Everyone is mostly recording, one at a time… But the fact is that we’re all pretty lucky working on the show. We’re employed. Everyone working on the show is healthy. Really can’t complain.”

Young Justice originally premiered on Cartoon Network in 2010 and ran for just two seasons before being cancelled, much to the disappointment of its fanbase. However, the series was revived for the DC Universe app with a third season titled Young Justice: Outsiders. Whether Young Justice: Phantoms will air on DC Universe – or whether it will follow the other original DC Universe shows in moving to alternate platforms – we shall have to wait and see.
