Zac Efron joins Matthew McConaughey in Harmony Korine’s The Beach Bum

December 15, 2017 by Matt Rodgers

Spring Breakers director Harmony Korine’s stoner comedy The Beach Bum has added Zac Efron to an already impressive cast that includes Matthew McConaughey and Isla Fisher.

McConaughey will play a stoner named Moondog, who lives by his own set of rules in the Florida Keys. Efron will play a character named Flicker, but that’s about as much as we know about his role. The film will also feature Snoop Dogg and Jimmy Buffet. As you can see from the set pics below, filming is currently underway.

The Beach Bum is Korine’s first film since 2012’s divisive Spring Breakers. NEON have picked up the distribution rights, whilst Rocket Science is handling the international sales of the film.

Efron can be seen next in song and dance spectacular The Greatest Showman, which opens on December 20th in the US and on Boxing Day in the UK.
