Zoe Saldana to star in action thriller Hummingbird

February 4, 2017 by Ricky Church

Over the last few years Zoe Saldana has been breaking into the action genre and the actress has now attached herself to the upcoming action thriller Hummingbird. Variety reports that the Star Trek Beyond and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 star will play a black-ops assassin who confronts her true identity while on her latest assignment.

Hummingbird comes from a script written by John McClain and will be directed by Swedish duo Markus Kryler and Fredrik Akerstrom. The pair previously directed the cinematic sequences for Electronic Arts’ Battlefield 1. Fundamental Films will produce the film alongside Zoe Saldana through her Cinestar Pictures, a company she founded with her sisters Cisely and Mariel.

There is no word yet on when this film will come out. 2018 is likely, but Saldana has a fairly busy schedule already with Avengers: Infinity War, likely the untitled fourth Avengers and the next Star Trek films, not to mention James Cameron’s ambitious Avatar sequels. We should get more information on those above projects soon and how Hummingbird will fit into her schedule.
