Avatar 2 has been in the pipeline for a while now but there has been little to no news concerning the first sequel to 2009's mega-blockbuster. Earlier this year, Zoe Saldana announced that Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 would film back to back with shooting beginning early 2014. However, it seems that this information may be incorrect. In an interview with an Australian radio station, Sam Worthington revealed that filming will in fact begin in October of 2014.
When asked when filming would commence, Worthington said that he "expects for [Avatar 2] to start shooting in October 2014. Rumours are running wild concerning Avatar 2 with Arnold Schwarzenegger supposedly attached to reunite with The Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgment Day and True Lies director James Cameron as the villain of the piece.
In addition to the news that production will commence next year, there seems to be confirmation that Avatar 2, 3 and 4 will shoot back to back within a year of production. This should fit in with the (once again rumoured) years of release, with Avatar 2 said to open in 2016, Avatar 3 in 2017 and Avatar 4 arriving sometime in 2018.
