The Legend of Conan gets a screenwriter

October 2, 2013 by admin

Last October, it was announced that Arnold Schwarzenegger would return to one of his previous characters as part of his big screen comeback, reprising the role of Robert E. Howard’s Conan the Cimmerian for The Legend of Conan.

Although things have fallen quiet on the sequel over the past year it seems that Universal are now pushing ahead with the follow-up, with Deadline revealing that screenwriter Andrea Berloff has signed a deal to pen the script for the fantasy epic. Berloff’s credits include World Trade Center and Sleepless Night, while she has also scripted Straight Outta Compton for New Line and is currently working on a King Arthur tale for Walt Disney Pictures.

The Legend of Conan is being produced by Chris Morgan (Fast & Furious 6) and is said to pick up from the final scene of 1982’s Conan the Barbarian and will revolve around King Conan’s efforts to hold onto the throne. The film is one of three past Arnie hits which the Austrian Oak plans to revisit – the others being 2015’s Terminator reboot and the proposed Twins sequel Triplets.
