Issue 731 of Walt Disney’s Comics & Stories contains three enjoyable tales of Disney’s most beloved characters.  In this issue we find the penultimate episode of the 12 part ‘The Search for the Zodiac Stone’ story and things are hotting up as Scrooge, Donald and Mickey are on the search for the Aries pendant.  Unfortunately, Magica De Spell is still after Scrooge’s number one dime and when she finds the object that could lead her straight into Scrooge’s vault it is up to our heroes to stop catastrophe.

The search for the Zodiac Stone is a first printing for a US Disney comic having first been published in Italy’s Topolino comic #1790 in 1990.  This is a fun story by Bruno Sarda that is sure to keep you reading till the end.

The second story in this issue is a short of Brer Rabbit from Sunday Comic Strip of 1953.  This is a entertaining 2 minute read by George Stallings that sees Brer Rabbit up to mischief by ‘sampling’ some of Brer Bear’s honey. His way of escaping Brer Bears wrath is not one to try at home.

Finally, our last story of this issue is ‘Why Robot?’ from the French Le Journal Comic #2999 printed in 2009.  Written by Stefan Petrucha this short story sees our pals Goofy and Horace Horsecollar needing a room at a motel after a nasty storm ends their camping trip.  After watching a few sci-fi films before bed are our friends seeing things or is something odd going on at the motel?

This story is wonderfully illustrated by Fabrizio Petrossi and every panel is filled with detail from rain falling down and lightning flashing to shelves filled with books and videos in the background.

All stories in this issue are perfect examples of Disney art and storytelling and certainly worth a read by young and old.

Rating: 8.5/10
