Rambo set for TV treatment with Rambo: New Blood

December 1, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

After the critical and box-office success his latest film Creed, which took an estimated $42 million over the Thanksgiving long weekend, it looks like Sylvester Stallone’s career has been re-energised. So much so in fact that Deadline is reporting that a new Rambo television series entitled Rambo: New Blood is in the works over at 20th Century Fox.

Jeb Stuart, writer of The Fugitive and Die Hard, has written the script, which will explore the relationship between Rambo and Rambo Jr, “a former Navy SEAL who has never been featured in any of the Rambo movies”.

Producer Avi Lerner’s Millennium Films and Entertainment One are behind the series after both signed a deal to co-produce and develop the show a couple of years ago. Stallone will serve as executive producer, as well as reprising his role as Rambo.

UPDATE: It seems that the planned fifth movie Rambo: Last Blood has been put on hold due to the series.
