SDCC: Brie Larson confirmed as Captain Marvel, logo unveiled

July 24, 2016 by Justin Cook

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has officially found its Captain Marvel in Room star and Oscar-winning actress Brie Larson. While the news, which was announced at San Diego Comic-Con, shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, considering how Larson has been the frontrunner for the role since early June, she’s undoubtedly a welcome addition to the Marvel family.

In addition to the casting, a new logo for Captain Marvel was revealed today and can be seen below…

Before her solo film in 2019, Larson will appear in Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1 and, knowing Marvel, possibly even another project.

Larson has given stellar performances in such films and TV shows as Short Term 12, Community, 21 Jump Street and Trainwreck, and has only been getting better as an actress as her career has gone on.

Captain Marvel is due out on March 8th, 2019 and will be written by Nicole Perlman & Meg LeFauve. It is set to be the 21st MCU film and first led solely by a female.
