Alan Ritchson says he’s playing Shazam in the DC movie

September 16, 2016 by Gary Collinson

We’ve known for a long while now that Dwayne Johnson will be portraying Black Adam in Warner Bros.’ Shazam! movie, but as yet there’s been no word on casting for the superhero alter-ego of Billy Batson. However, Alan Ritchson – who played the DC hero Aquaman on Smallville – may have revealed that he’s secured the role of (the former) Captain Marvel, with the actor posting the following to Twitter:

As you’d expect, Ritchson’s tweet immediately got fans talking, with some speculating that he could be playing Shazam via motion capture, similar to what he has done with Raphael in the recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies. However, he’s yet to respond further, and there’s been no official word from the studio, or anyone involved with the project.
