James Wan comments on Aquaman and Mera

October 21, 2016 by Gary Collinson

A couple of weeks ago Zack Snyder gave us our first look at Amber Heard’s Mera, Queen of Atlantis, from next year’s Justice League movie, and now Aquaman director James Wan has briefly shared his thoughts on the image, as well as the pairing of Heard and Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, and the tone of the 2018 solo movie.

“I think Amber and Jason Momoa, in their moments in Justice League, (are) going to give the rest of the world a flavor of what their own standalone movie could be,” Wan told Entertainment Tonight (via Batman-News). “And that is just scratching the surface of what I plan to do.”

Asked about the solo movie, Wan responded that: ““I kind of don’t want to give too much away but know this: The spirit that I’m going for is like a classic sort of swashbuckling action adventure, sort of high seas adventure story. It’s ultimately a quest story in the spirit of Raiders of the Lost Ark meets Romancing the Stone.”

Justice League is set for release on November 17th, 2017, while the Aquaman solo movie is slated to arrive on July 27th 2018.
