Mel Gibson on directing Iron Man 4: “It might be fun”

November 13, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Way back in October of 2014, Robert Downey Jr. suggested that he’d be keen to reprise the role of Tony Stark for Iron Man 4 if his good pal Mel Gibson was behind the camera, with Gibson subsequently stating that he’d be open to the idea.

Well, in an interview with Total Film, the Hacksaw Ridge director has again suggested that he’d be interested in tackling the Armored Avenger, telling the magazine that: “It might be fun. You’d have to figure out a way to be different with that.”

Of course it remains to be seen whether Marvel would have any interest in working with Gibson, not only because of his baggage, but also his recent comments about the MCU, where he criticised the superhero movies for their levels of “violence without conscience”.

Would you like to see Mel Gibson teaming up with Robert Downey Jr. for Iron Man 4? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
