Mel Gibson would like to direct Iron Man 4

November 12, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Back at the start of October, Robert Downey Jr. jokingly stated that he’d be happy to reprise the role of Tony Stark for Iron Man 4 on the condition that his good pal Mel Gibson handled directing duties, and now Gibson has addressed the possibility, admitting that he’d be keen to tackle the Armored Avenger if the opportunity arose.

“I’m pretty good at directing, I think I got some statues for it,” Gibson told Extra’s Mario Lopez (via The Daily Mail). “I think I can do it. I think I’m a better director than actor…I hope somebody gives me an argument on that.”

Of course, with Robert Downey Jr. gearing up for Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War and stating recently that he expects to fall just short of double figures with his Marvel appearances – not to mention Gibson’s standing in Hollywood these days – it would seem highly unlikely that we’ll ever see the duo pairing up on Iron Man 4.

Would you like to see Mel Gibson directing an Iron Man movie?
