Ruby Rose to join Pitch Perfect 3 cast

December 14, 2016 by Justin Cook

Orange is the New Black actress and model Ruby Rose was already looking to have a huge 2017, between roles in xXx: Return of Xander Cage, John Wick: Chapter 2 and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, but now, Variety reports that she’ll be adding one more major sequel to her schedule.

Rose is in talks to belt out a few notes in Trish Sie’s Pitch Perfect 3, the next entry in the Pitch Perfect series. At the moment, no details are known about the character Rose will play.

The first Pitch Perfect turned out to be a sleeper hit in 2012, taking in over seven times its budget in ticket sales revenue at the box office, but it wasn’t until the film’s sequel when Universal Pictures saw just how big of a draw Anna Kendrick’s Beca Mitchell and her Barden Bellas were. Pitch Perfect 2 grossed $287 million, well over twice as much as its predecessor, at the box office on a $29 million budget.

So, essentially, even though Rose is starring in a number of big-budget action films next year, don’t be surprised if Pitch Perfect 3 outgrosses all of them.

Pitch Perfect 3 is set for release on December 22nd, 2017 and will see the return of Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Anna Camp, Brittany Snow and Hailee Steinfeld. Despite passing on directing, Elizabeth Banks is also expected to be back as a cast member and producer. Kay Cannon penned the film’s script, and Mike White and Dana Fox worked on subsequent drafts.
