Sony and director Patrick Hughes exit The Raid remake

October 25, 2015 by Gary Collinson

It looks like the troubled Hollywood remake of Gareth Evans’ martial arts spectacular The Raid has hit another stumbling block, with The Tracking Board reporting that both director Patrick Hughes (The Expendables 3) and Sony’s Screen Gems have exited the project.

Screen Gems was developing the remake alongside XYZ Films, who now remain the sole production company involved with the project. It’s thought that XYZ are still pressing ahead with its plans for the movie, and is now seeking a new distributor, as well of course as a new filmmaker to take on the reins.

The remake of The Raid was first announced back in February 2014, but was put on hold last May, with a view to shooting this year.
