Mel Gibson offers Suicide Squad 2 update

Recently it came to light that Warner Bros. is courting Academy Award winning director Mel Gibson (whose directorial efforts were recognized this year with a Best Director nomination for Hacksaw Ridge) to helm the sequel for last year’s DCEU spectacle Suicide Squad.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Gibson gave an update on where things stand, saying “I don’t know. I just met some guys about story points. It’s not a done deal or anything. But it’s just fun to shoot the bull when it comes to stories. And if we can elevate any kind of concept it’s good. We’ll see.”

Suicide Squad was a commercial success but critical failure. However, the negative reception did not stop the blockbuster from winning the Oscar for Best Makeup and Hairstyling at the 89th Academy Awards.
