Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star joins The CW’s Black Lightning DC pilot

March 11, 2017 by Amie Cranswick

Originally published March 11, 2017. Updated April 16, 2018.

Deadline is reporting that Christine Adams has signed on for a role in The CW’s upcoming DC pilot Black Lightning, where she’ll play Lynn Stewart, the ex-wife of former superhero Jefferson Pierce.

Adams, whose credits include Batman Begins and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., joins a cast that includes Cress Williams as Jefferson Pierce and Nafessa Williams and China Anne McClain as his daughters Jennifer and Anissa. Her character is described as a woman “who exudes confidence and intelligence. Although she’s got a mischievous side, she’s not one to be trifled with when it comes to family”.

Black Lightning has been written by Salim Akil and Mara Brock Akil (The Game), with Greg Berlanti (Arrow, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl) producing. It will follow Jefferson Pierce, a man who hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter hellbent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend Black Lightning.
