Yoda in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Aquaman pushed back, Venom movie gets release date, Guardians Vol. 3 confirmed and more – Daily News Roundup

March 17, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Rounding up yesterday’s big news stories…

YODA IN THE LAST JEDI?

It’s been rumoured on several occasions that the Jedi Master Yoda will be making an appearance in Star Wars: The Last Jedi (as a Force Ghost, presumably), and Frank Oz has further fuelled the speculation in an interview where he revealed he’s been asked not to discuss the possibility. Read Oz’s comments here.

AQUAMAN PUSHED BACK AGAIN

Having already been pushed back once, DC fans will have a little longer to wait before they get to see Jason Momoa’s Aquaman in his solo movie, as Warner Bros. has decided to move the film from its October 5th 2018 date to December 21st 2018, taking advantage of the lack of a Star Wars movie, and James Cameron’s recent comments that Avatar 2 won’t make that date. Read more here.

SONY SETS DATE FOR VENOM MOVIE

If you were desperate to see a comic book movie on October 5th, then you’re in luck as Sony wasted no time in jumping in on Aquaman’s old release date for the long-rumoured Venom solo movie. As yet, there’s no word if Marvel will be involved, or if it will take place within the continuity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as with their Spider-Man: Homecoming reboot. Read our report here.

JAMES GUNN CONFIRMS GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3

Director James Gunn was pretty busy yesterday; not only did he confirm that the Guardians of the Galaxy will play an integral role in Avengers: Infinity War, but he also discussed Ego the Living Planet’s powers in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (and why he looks like Kurt Russell rather than a giant planet), as well as confirming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 – although he hasn’t decided if he’ll be back to direct.

PARAMOUNT ROLLS OUT NEW TRANSFORMERS TRAILER

Paramount Pictures has given Transformers fans another peek at Michael Bay’s upcoming fifth (and reportedly his final) instalment in the franchise with the release of a new trailer for Transformers: The Last Knight. Plot still remains a total mystery. Check it out here.

ARTICLE OF THE DAY

And finally, Henry Bevan has posted an article looking at the Golden Age of the Superhero Movie, which he feels is the mid-noughties. Read his article here, and let us know if you agree.
