“Dexter In Space” – Michael C. Hall talks 20 years of Dexter and where the killer will go next

July 11, 2025 by EJ Moreno

The cast of Dexter: Resurrection on the killer new series…

For nearly 20 years now, Dexter has found a way to hack and slash his way into our hearts. The series has found new life after its original run ended, with a sequel series, Dexter: New Blood, a recent prequel series, Original Sin, and now this New York City-set revamp, Dexter: Resurrection. To promote the series ahead of its debut on Showtime and Paramount+, we chatted with the beloved killer himself, Michael C. Hall.

During our conversation, we examined what it takes to play the same character for so long, becoming a signature role that most actors would kill for. Hall also jokes about how far he’d like to take Dexter in the future, hitting at the path many slashers have taken and would love to see Dexter tackle space. Dexter has taken Manhattan, but can we get Dexter X like Jason X? Only time will tell, but it seems like the actor will play this role however fans want.

Joining Hall are his Dexter: Resurrection castmates David Zayas, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Dominic Fumusa, Kadia Saraf, and Emilia Suárez. The cast discusses what it’s like working in the dark world of killers, what it’s like joining such an iconic franchise, and working with fan-favorite Michael C. Hall.

A continuation of DEXTER: NEW BLOOD, DEXTER: RESURRECTION takes place weeks after Dexter Morgan (Hall) takes a bullet to the chest from his own son, as he awakens from a coma to find Harrison (Jack Alcott) gone without a trace. Realizing the weight of what he put his son through, Dexter sets out for New York City, determined to find him and make things right. But closure won’t come easy. When Miami Metro’s Angel Batista (David Zayas) arrives with questions, Dexter realizes his past is catching up to him fast. As father and son navigate their own darkness in the city that never sleeps, they soon find themselves deeper than they ever imagined – and that the only way out is together.

The series stars Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan, Uma Thurman as Charley, David Zayas as Detective Angel Batista, Jack Alcott as Dexter’s son Harrison Morgan, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Blessing Kamara, Kadia Saraf as Detective Claudette Wallace, Dominic Fumusa as Detective Melvin Oliva, Emilia Suárez as Elsa Rivera, with James Remar as Dexter’s father Harry Morgan and Peter Dinklage as Leon Prater. Neil Patrick Harris, Krysten Ritter, Eric Stonestreet and David Dastmalchian are also set to guest star as Lowell, Mia, Al and Gareth, respectively.

Dexter: Resurrection is set to premiere on Paramount+ with Showtime on July 11th 2025.
