Dolph Lundgren cast as King Nereus in Aquaman

April 13, 2017 by Jordan Jones

It looks like we have another action movie legend joining the comic book movie club, as it has just been revealed that Dolph Lundgren is joining the cast of Aquaman as King Nereus.

King Nereus is relatively new to the Aquaman mythos, making his first appearance in 2013. He is the king of Xebel, as well the kingdom’s greatest warrior. He is also a fierce rival to Aquaman. Nereus possesses superhuman strength, and has the ability to control water (hydrokinesis).

With Sylvester Stallone involved in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and now Dolph Lundgren joining the DCEU, are there any other action icons that you would like to see joining a comic book franchise?

Aquaman is being directed by James Wan (The Conjuring) and stars Jason Momoa as the titular hero, reprising his role from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, along with Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master, Willem Dafoe as Dr. Vulko, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna and Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry. It is set for release on December 21st 2018.
