A few days ago Kathleen Kennedy revealed that she expects the next Star Wars Anthology movie to be announced as early as this summer, and now we have a few more comments from the Lucasfilm chief, who has told E-Cartelera (via Star Wars News Net) that fans could play a major role in determining the next slate of spinoff movies.
“To be honest, we are beginning to talk about [the spin-offs] right now. We have four or five weeks immersed in Han Solo and we are about to read the script for Colin Trevorrow’s Episode IX, so we have a lot of work at the moment. In the next six or eight months we will have some meetings about the stories that we will develop here. After 40 years of adventures, fans have so much information and so many theories about the way that can take these stories and theories that emerge are sometimes new ideas for us that we hear, read and pay attention to everything what is said. It is clear that the franchise is owned by the as much by the fans as it’s owned by [the people at Lucasfilm].”
If Lucasfilm really is listening to the fans, then you’d have to imagine the long-rumoured Obi-Wan movie is top of their list of priorities, despite the fact that Ewan McGregor recently said he doesn’t think “it’s going to happen soon if it happens at all.” Other rumoured projects include a Boba Fett movie, and even a YA romance,
