Iron Fist star Finn Jones explains how The Defenders will influence Danny Rand

May 22, 2017 by Jordan Jones

We are closer than ever to seeing the Marvel/Netflix Universe unite in the form of The Defenders. Aside from Daredevil, every other team member has only had one season so far, and so there’s still a lot for the individual heroes to learn as they continue their crimefighting careers. How will The Defenders change its key players, for better, or worse? Well, according to Finn Jones, his character Danny Rand, at least, will learn quite a bit.

Speaking to CinemaBlend, the Iron Fist actor describes how being exposed to other superheroes will influence his character:

“The thing [with] Danny is that we’re taking an ordinary kid with a lot of issues and we’re trying to iron those out first before getting to Danny as Iron Fist. And what we’ll [see] in Defenders is Danny coming to terms with being a superhero. In the Defenders when he first starts, he doesn’t even know what a superhero is and then he meets those guys and he’s like ‘WHOA. This is cool,’ and by the end of it you kind of see Danny really coming to the grips with his responsibility in a much more mature way.”

It’s not secret that Iron Fist premiered to extremely mixed reactions from critics. Perhaps spending some time in The Defenders universe will turn Danny Rand into the Iron First fans are hoping for.

“Marvel’s The Defenders” follows Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal – to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.

The Defenders will hit Netflix on August 18th 2017, with Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Finn Jones (Iron Fist), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Simone Missick (Misty Knight), Scott Glenn (Stick), Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple), Rachael Taylor (Trish Walker), Jessica Henwick (Colleen Wing) and Elodie Yung (Elektra) appearing alongside Sigourney Weaver as the villain, Alexandra.
