Gotham’s Sean Pertwee would love to see the cast star in their own Batman movie

July 12, 2017 by Jordan Jones

Gotham is approaching its fourth season, and a young Bruce Wayne finally seems to be at the tipping point to starting his journey to become Batman. The show creates an interesting situation for DC on screen in that technically there are two Batmans (although not quite yet).

While we have our full-blown Caped Crusader fill with Ben Affleck’s portrayal as Batman on the big screen,  Gotham’s Sean Pertwee hopes that the cast of the show can eventually have a movie of their own.

Speaking at Heroes and Villains Fan Fest, the Alfred Pennyworth actor shared his thoughts when asked about the potential for a Gotham movie: “Absolutely. I would love nothing more than to be involved in a cinematic version. The end of this season when they had the two episodes together, that was almost like a movie and I’d like to see more of that.”

If this really happened, it may be the first time a comic book franchise told the stories of two different incarnations of the same hero on-screen simultaneously. So far, the only way this dynamic has worked (two actors playing the same role) is for one actor to portray the movie incarnation, while another actor takes over the television side. We’ve seen it with Superman, The Flash, and of course Batman. In several years, as Bruce Wayne actor David Mazouz ages into the role, it would certainly be interesting to see him appear on screen as The Dark Knight.
