Scarface remake loses David Ayer as its director

July 13, 2017 by Samuel Brace

The remake of Scarface is now without a director once again after losing David Ayer.

There was many a puzzled look upon hearing news that the iconic crime thriller Scarface was going to be remade for a second time, and now the film has lost its second director.

Due to scheduling issues, David Ayer is no longer able to helm proceedings, having originally taken over from Antoine Fuqua who also left the project due to the same problems.

Sources say that because of the film’s aggressive schedule and Ayer’s upcoming Netflix release, Bright, starring Will Smith, the split was forced.

Diego Luna is still on board the project, filling the shoes of Al Pacino who starred in the classic Brian De Palma version of the movie.

Universal are currently working hard to find a replacement for Ayer with the hope of getting the movie up and running by the fall.

Scarface is due to be released on August 10, 2018.
