More Ben Affleck done with Batman talk, Daniel Craig back as Bond, Infinity War “biggest movie” ever made and more – Daily News Roundup

August 17, 2017 by admin

AFFLECK SPEAK

Prior to San Diego Comic Con, there was a rumour that Ben Affleck would be stepping down as The Dark Knight, promoting the star himself to respond and say he’s staying on with DC as Batman. Well, his brother Casey Affleck has had a few words about the subject – albeit in a joking manner. ““I thought he was an OK Batman,” he said jokingly. “No, I thought he was great. He was great. He’s a hero, so he had something to channel and work with there. But he’s not going to do that movie, I don’t think. Sorry to say. Is that breaking news? Because I was just kind of making that up, I don’t know.” Read more here.

GUARDIANS OF THE VOD

James Gunn and the team behind Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 had a big reason to celebrate yesterday, as it was revealed the movie has become the biggest digital download in the franchise’s 9-year history. Read more here.

BOND IS BACK… FOR NOW

After a ‘will he, won’t he’ back and forth that felt like it lasted a decade or more, it was announced yesterday that Daniel Craig will indeed be back for one more outing as James Bond – but it will be hist last one. “I think this is it,” he told Stephen Colbert. “I just want to go out on a high note and I can’t wait.” You can read the rest of his very short answers to the questions asked here.

MISSION ACTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE

Following the news that Tom Cruise had broken his ankle on the set of Mission: Impossible 6, it was announced yesterday that production will be shut down for nine weeks while he recovers. “During production on the latest Mission: Impossible film, Tom Cruise broke his ankle while performing a stunt,” reads the official statement from Paramount. “Production will go on hiatus while Tom makes a full recovery, and the film remains on schedule to open July 27, 2018. Tom wants to thank you all for your concern and support and can’t wait to share the film with everyone next summer.” Read more here.

BIGGEST MOVIE EVER

With an incredible line-up of actors, it should come as no surprise that some people believe Avengers: Infinity War to be the biggest movie ever made. And according to one its stars, it sure felt like it! “It felt like the biggest movie that I’ve ever made and will ever make, and we’ve still got to make the [next] one,” Paul Betteny said in a recent interview. “It’s fucking crazy! I would come in, often at dawn because of the length of my make-up, and there would just be all of these twinkling lights. It looked like a town, but it wasn’t. It was where all of the trailers were. It was just massive. It’s massive! The call sheets are bananas. When you see the list of cast members, you’re like, ‘How is anybody else making a film in Hollywood, this year? How are they getting films financed? Everybody is in this!'” Read more here.

LICENSE TO DRIVE… AGAIN

he 1988 Corey Haim / Corey Feldman comedy License to Drive is set for a remake courtesy of 20th Century Fox, who have tapped Alisha Brophy and Scott Miles (White Girl Problems) to pen a female-led reboot. Read more here.

ARTICLE OF THE DAY

Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts was not a fan of Cinema Sins ‘Everything Wrong’ video and went on a Twitter tirade against the group. Our own Anghus Houvouras agreed, and you can read his thoughts here.
