Daniel Dae Kim to replace Ed Skrein in Hellboy

September 12, 2017 by Gary Collinson

It looks like Lionsgate and Millennium Films have found a replacement for Ed Skrein in the upcoming Hellboy reboot, with THR reporting that Daniel Dae Kim (Lost, Hawaii Five-O) is in talks to board the film.

Kim will play Major Ben Daimio, described as “a rugged military member of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense who, due to a supernatural encounter, can turn into a jaguar when angered or in pain.”

Deadpool star Ed Skrein was initially announced in the role, but exited the project due to the backlash over his casting as an Asian-American character.

Hellboy is being directed by Neil Marshall (Game of Thrones), with Stranger Things star David Harbour taking on the lead role alongside Ian McShane (American Gods) as Professor Broom, Sasha Lane (American Honey) as Alice Monaghan, Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil) as the Queen of Blood and Penelope Mitchell (The Vampire Diaries) as Ganeida.
