Garret Dillahunt cast as Ahab in Marvel’s The Gifted

September 12, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that Garret Dillahunt has been cast in a key recurring role as Roderick Campbell, a.k.a. Ahab, in Marvel’s upcoming X-Men series The Gifted.

The site describes the show’s interpretation of the character as “a mutant researcher contracted by the Sentinel Services. Professorial, intense and intimidating, Dr. Campbell has a morally dubious mission yet to be revealed.”

In the comic books, Dr. Campbell discovers that in the alternate ‘Days of Future Past’ timeline, he is Ahab, responsible for creating and leading a group of mutant hunters called the Hounds (including Rachel Summers, the daughter of Cyclops and Jean Grey). He sets out to prevent the future from coming to pass, but eventually falls under the control of Apocalypse and is transformed into Famine, the Horseman of the Apocalypse.

The Gifted is set to premiere on Fox on Monday, October 2nd, and featured a cast that includes Stephen Moyer (True Blood), Amy Acker (Person of Interest), Natalie Alyn Lind (Gotham), Emma Dumont (Pretty Little Liars), Jamie Chung (Gotham), Blair Redford (Switched at Birth), Sean Teale (Incorporated), Coby Bell (Burn Notice), Joseph Morgan (The Originals), Elena Satine (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Garret Dillahunt (The Guest Book).
