Hilary Swank starring in sci-fi thriller I Am Mother

October 18, 2017 by Gary Collinson

According to Variety, Oscar winner Hilary Swank has signed on to star in the sci-fi thriller I Am Mother, which is being directed by Grant Sputore as his feature debut, from Michael Lloyd Green’s 2016 Black List script.

The film stars Clara Rugaard as “the first of a new generation of humans raised by ‘Mother’ – a kindly robot designed to repopulate the earth following the extinction of mankind. But their unique bond is threatened when a blood-drenched woman (Swank) inexplicably arrives, calling into question everything she’s been told about the outside world.”

“It is a privilege to welcome Hilary Swank to our film,” Sputore said. “She is a remarkable performer who always brings tremendous commitment and honesty to the screen. I’m excited about the journey ahead with Hilary and the talented Clara Rugaard.”

Production on I Am Mother is now underway at South Australia’s Adelaide Studios and the film is expected to be released next. Swank will also be seen on the small screen in 2018, portraying Gail Getty in Danny Boyle’s John Paul Getty III kidnapping drama series Trust.
