M. Night Shyamalan’s Glass adds Disney as a distributor

October 4, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Disney has joined Universal in distributing Glass, the sequel to Unbreakable by M. Night Shyamalan,

We discovered yesterday that shooting was underway for the much anticipated Split/Unbreakable sequel Glass. And today, both studios involved announced that Universal will handle domestic distribution and Buena Vista International will be orchestrating things overseas.

Shooting for the movie began on Monday in Philadelphia and will see the separate but connected plots of this year’s Split and one of Shyamalan’s most beloved hits, Unbreakable, come together.

Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson will be returning from Unbreakable and James McAvoy – who played the villain in Split – will also be joining in on the fun, along with one the film’s other stars Anya Taylor-Joy.

Fans were over the moon when the announcement for Glass came earlier in the year and will surely be delighted that things seem to be moving forward pretty quickly. Many a finger will be crossed that Shyamalan can continue his recent run of good form.

Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men. This riveting culmination of his worldwide blockbusters will be produced by Shyamalan and Jason Blum.

Glass will see the return of Bruce Willis (David Dunn), Samuel L. Jackson (Elijah Price), Spencer Treat Clark (Joseph Dunn) and Charlayne Woodard (Mrs. Price) from Unbreakable and James McAvoy (Kevin Wendell Crumb) and Anya Taylor-Joy (Casey Cooke) from Split, while Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story) is also set for a role. The film is slated to hit cinemas on January 19th 2019.
