Arrow Season 6 Episode 10 Review – ‘Divided’

January 20, 2018 by Jessie Robertson

Jessie Robertson reviews the tenth episode of Arrow season 6…

It’s Gang Warfare on Arrow and Oliver came without his Greasers!

If Trust is a dollar bill, I”d love to have one for every time someone talked about trust on this show; Trust is now a noun on this show. Oliver breaks it down beautifully in his sales pitch to the former team (although he can’t help but mention how right he was with Dinah & Rene) and it doesn’t take. The team, in their short tenure, has seen enough. It’s time to move on; so they form their own team, complete with new team HQ. It’s a fun break off storyline, that unfortunately, I don’t see lasting very long (6 episodes tops).

Did I miss something or doesn’t Anatoly have anything better to do than hang around Star City, playing second fiddle to a strange little man who loves talking slowly? Michael Emerson’s line reads are like when I’m in the DMV: scared out of my mind and waiting forever for results. When he burst in on the lone Bertinelli (great call-back to season 1 and the Huntress), and responds when asked who he is “Someone..important.” I slow-clapped in my living room as my 18 month old daughter joined in, because it looked fun. This is fun, sweetie, a whole lot of fun. And for a Lostie like me, this is like a second run with Ben Linus, just a little more subdued.

We can talk about trust and the team until we’re blue in the face; And I don’t give one fig about Dinah and Vigilante; she’s a cop! She didn’t see that coming! Curtis & Rene’s bromance is definitely rivaling Ray & Nate’s on Legends. The storyline that has me drawn in is of course, Quentin’s confused psyche on what to do about Laurel and Thea’s involvement; her speech(es) to him tonight, the giving of the photos and Quentin’s reactions to the whole situation keep the heart pumping on this show. What a gut punch storyline to give him and Paul Blackthorne puts so much into these scenes.

Our gang warfare is just kicking off and maybe it’s me, but tonight’s big fight scene display was a mess; I love the idea of how they shot it, but it exposed some bad choreography in the fight tonight, when Oliver is down in that step-off going through the baddies. Not their best effort, but the storytelling is solid so far.

Rating: 8/10
