David Harbour says his Hellboy look is entirely practical effects

January 5, 2018 by Jordan Jones

One of the more impressive parts of Guillermo del Toro’s Hellboy almost-trilogy was that all of the main character’s/creatures were accomplished with practical effects. Which isn’t a surprise, given that Guillermo del Toro seems to prefer practical over CGI whenever possible (see: Pan’s Labyrinth, for a beautiful example).

However, given that Hellboy is being reboot with a new director in the seat, it’s natural to be worried that this new installment will rely more on CGI for its characters than the previous films. Well, fear not, according to Hellboy himself David Harbour. Appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Hellboy is au naturale:

“Not a single bit, man. I don’t know why people complain about ‘fake news,’ because fake news works in my favor, in terms of this. That’s all me, 100%.”

SEE ALSO: Hellboy’s David Harbour describes the reboot as a “monster movie that’s dark and scary”

That is positive news indeed! Hopefully, since filming has officially wrapped, we will get an official trailer soon.

Hellboy is being directed by Neil Marshall (Game of Thrones), with Stranger Things star David Harbour taking on the lead role alongside Ian McShane (American Gods) as Professor Broom, Sasha Lane (American Honey) as Alice Monaghan, Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil) as the Queen of Blood, Daniel Dae Kim (Hawaii Five-O) as Major Ben Daimio and Penelope Mitchell (The Vampire Diaries) as Ganeida.

… You can find Jordan on Twitter, and Facebook.
