Ian McDiarmid returns as The Emperor in trailer for Star Wars Rebels’ final episodes

January 19, 2018 by Ricky Church

Lucasfilm and Disney XD have released a new poster and trailer for the final episodes of Star Wars Rebels, as well as revealing that the six episodes will be released over a period of three weeks. Starting February 19th, there will be two episodes of Rebels each Monday, culminating with a regular 30 minute episode and an extra sized, 90-minute finale on March 5th. In the UK, the beginning of the end starts at 9am on Saturday 24th February, with the remaining episodes in the series running weekly throughout March. Furthermore, the Emperor himself will make his presence known as Ian McDiarmid, who played Darth Sidious in the original Star Wars trilogy and the prequel films, will reprise his role as Emperor Palpatine. Take a look at the poster and trailer here…

Before this news revealed, it had been thought that Rebels would air as normal with one episode per week. A previous report had suggested that premiere would be February 24th instead of the 19th and also included synopses of the two returning episodes, suggesting a big character death was on the way. While the premiere date has been clarified, there’s been nothing to suggest who might meet their end when the show returns.

Star Wars Rebels stars Freddie Prinze Jr, Vanessa Marshall, Steve Blum, Tiya Sircar, Taylor Gray, Dee Bradley Baker, David Oyelowo, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, Lars Mikkelsen and Warwick Davis, with Star Wars: The Clone Wars‘ Dave Filoni executive producing the series.
