Dolph Lundgren talks Aquaman, confirms King Nereus’ relationship to Mera

A few days ago, a rumour surfaced suggesting that Amber Heard’s Mera and Dolph Lundgren’s King Nereus will be father-and-daughter in the upcoming Aquaman movie (as opposed to lovers, as they are in the New 52 comic book continuity).

Well, Lundgren has now confirmed that detail during an interview with Las Vegas Review Journal, where he also briefly touched upon the film’s plot and his character’s role within it.

“It is good to be king,” said Lundgren. “Basically, I try to keep the peace down there along with Amber Heard, who plays my daughter. She’s trying to convince me to join the right side. Then you have Nicole Kidman as Aquaman’s mother. We’re trying to avoid war between the surface dwellers and the people of Atlantis.”

Arthur Curry learns that he is the heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, and must step forward to lead his people and to be a hero to the world.

Aquaman is directed by James Wan (The Conjuring) and stars Jason Momoa as the titular hero, reprising his role from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, along with Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master, Willem Dafoe as Dr. Vulko, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry, Ludi Lin as Murk, Michael Beach as Jesse Kane, Otis Dhanji as a young Arthur Curry and Graham McTavish in an as-yet-unrevealed role. It is set for release on December 21st 2018.
