Mission: Impossible – Fallout director linked to Green Lantern Corps, reignites Tom Cruise / Hal Jordan rumours

March 6, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Back in January of last year it was revealed that David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight Trilogy, Man of Steel) would be producing Warner Bros.’ cosmic DC adventure Green Lantern Corps, as well as penning the script with Justin Rhodes (Contract Killers).

Since then, we’ve had Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) and even Goyer himself linked to the director’s chair, and now it seems we can throw a third name into the mix.

According to That Hashtag Show, Warner Bros. is eyeing Mission: Impossible – Fallout director Christopher McQuarrie to helm the film, which will reportedly focus on John Stewart becoming a Green Lantern, as well as his relationship with Hal Jordan.

Given McQuarrie’s frequent collaborations with Tom cruise on Mission: Impossible, Jack Reacher, Edge of Tomorrow and The Mummy, the report has also reignited rumours that Cruise could be in line for the role of Hal Jordan. Cruise, you may recall, was first linked to the role in January 2017, along with Ryan Reynolds (who portrayed Hal in the 2011 film) and Jake Gyllenhaal (who is now said to be lined up as a replacement for Ben Affleck as Batman).

Would you like to see Christopher McQuarrie and Tom Cruise reuniting for Green Lantern Corps? Who would you cast as John Stewart? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
