Charlize Theron still hoping to star in a Furiosa Mad Max spin off

April 18, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Charlize Theron has said that she would be excited to be a part of a George Miller-directed Furiosa spin off from Mad Max: Fury Road.

When Mad Max: Fury Road came out back in 2015 it was an instant hit with fans and critics alike. It seemed almost a given that there would be some sort of sequel by now, but alas, it hasn’t materialised.

Charlize Theron’s character Furiosa was one of the most popular components of the Tom Hardy-led film and the actress has now voiced her interest in starring in her own spin off. Speaking to Screen Rant, Theron said:

“I hope so. I love that character I loved working with George Miller and if he was ever on board, yeah. I mean, I would be in right from the beginning. With him (George Miller) it’s kind of like working with Jason Reitman. I wouldn’t even need to see a script, I trust him that much and it’s great when you have that with a filmmaker.”

So Theron is on board but unfortunately that isn’t an indicator that things will start moving forward as Hardy has also expressed excitement about returning to the franchise and nothing yet has transpired on that front.

And, with George Miller and Warner Bros. currently locked in a legal dispute over Mad Max: Fury Road earnings, it may be some time before we do hear of any movement on another instalment in the post-apocalyptic action series.
