May 21, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Walt Disney Pictures and director Joachim Ronning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) continue to fill out the cast of the upcoming Maleficent sequel, with Variety reporting that Jenn Murray (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) has becom the latest addition.

Maleficent 2 will see Angelina Jolie reprising her role as the Mistress of All Evil, with Elle Fanning returning as Aurora. Harris Dickinson (Trust) will play the Prince, taking over from Brenton Thwaites who is unable to return due to his commitments to the DC series Titans.

Other new additions to the cast include Chiwetel Ejiofor (Doctor Strange), Michelle Pfeiffer (Murder on the Orient Express) and Ed Skrein (Deadpool), with the latter playing the villain.

Maleficent 2 is set to go into production later this year, with Ronning directing from a script originally penned by Jez Butterworth (Edge of Tomorrow) and Linda Woolverton (The Lion King), with rewrites from Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster (Transparent).
