Margot Robbie teases DC’s R-rated Birds of Prey movie

May 9, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Margot Robbie has teased DC’s Birds of Prey movie, saying that she wants the film to be R-rated.

While the DCEU isn’t in the strongest position as of 2018, especially considering the disappointing box office performance of Justice League – its global total already passed by Avengers: Infinity War – there are still plenty of films in the pipeline.

One of those films is the Margot Robbie led Birds of Prey, which is set to see the actress reprise her Suicide Squad role as Harley Quinn while being joined by a gang of female colleagues. The film is being written by Christina Hodson and directed by Cathy Yan.

Robbie has recently spoken to Collider about the movie and how she pitched the idea: “I pitched the idea of an R-rated girl gang film including Harley, because I was like, ‘Harley needs friends.’ Harley loves interacting with people, so don’t ever make her do a standalone film. She’s got to be with other people, it should be a girl gang. I wasn’t seeing enough girl gangs on screen, especially in the action space. So that was always a big part of it.”
