Rumours circulating about a possible Man of Steel 2 announcement at Comic-Con

June 24, 2018 by Gary Collinson

With Marvel Studios opting to sit out Comic-Con this year, Warner Bros. has a great chance to grab the superhero spotlight in Hall H next month with its big DC Films presentation.

We already know that it is set to feature the unveiling of the first Aquaman trailer, with Gal Gadot also on hand to present some first look footage from Wonder Woman 1984, and talk that we might also get a trailer for next year’s Shazam! as well as a possible “rebranding” of the DCEU.

Well, according to Mario-Francisco Robles El Fanboy Podcast, Warner Bros. also wants Henry Cavill in attendance as part of the panel, and the studio may well be set to officially announce the long-rumoured Man of Steel sequel. Robles has previously claimed that the studio is looking to have the Superman sequel in theaters in 2020.

Now, it’s possible this is just speculation based on the fact that Cavill indicated back in April that he’s been “having conversations” about Man of Steel 2, and recently shared a workout photo to Instagram stating that he’s “working on the Super Buns”. Another possibility for a Cavill Comic-Con appearance is the repeated rumours that his Superman is set to appear alongside Zachary Levi’s Shazam in April’s David F. Sandberg-directed solo movie.

We won’t have too long to wait until we get an answer one way or another, as Warner Bros. and DC Films’ panel is expected to take place on Saturday, July 21st. Meanwhile, let us know in the comments below if you’re hoping a Man of Steel 2 announcement is forthcoming…
