Having wrapped production on The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle, and with his commitments to the Marvel Cinematic Universe coming to an end with next year’s Avengers 4 (for the time being at least), it looks like Robert Downey Jr. is now turning his attention to the long-rumoured Sherlock Holmes 3.
The star took to social media to tease his return as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s master detective, sharing a gif of his Holmes along with the caption “practicing my Sherlock face”.

Talk of a third Sherlock Holmes movie has been around for several years now, although Downey, co-star Jude Law and director Guy Ritchie’s hectic schedules have complicated matters.
However, back in May it was announced that Warner Bros. has set a Christmas Day 2020 release date for the next adventure, with both Downey and Law confirmed to return as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. As yet however, there’s been no word as to whether Ritchie will be back in the director’s chair.
