Ant-Man director Peyton Reed excited about the Fantastic Four joining the MCU

October 17, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Ant-Man and the Wasp director Peyton Reed is intrigued and excited by the prospect of the Fantastic Four in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Fantastic Four carries a lot of weight in the world of Marvel comics but for one reason or the other, the property has never done well on the big screen. Does it always have to be that way though?

Not according to Peyton Reed, director of Ant-Man and the Wasp, who is excited by what the Disney/Fox deal could mean for the Fantastic Four, with the group potentially entering the MCU.

Speaking to ComicBook.com, Reed said: “Well, listen: as a fan, I certainly find that intriguing, because in the comics realm, the Fantastic Four are the crown jewels of the Marvel Universe. They are the first family of Marvel. I think there is a version of Fantastic Four that has yet to be rendered in the movies that would really, really excite me, and I certainly think there are at least six different ways to introduce Fantastic Four into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a really satisfying way.”

Reed has previously expressed his love for the Fantastic Four before and was even briefly attached to Fox’s 2005 movie before Tim Story came on board, so who knows – perhaps he could be the man to do them justice if and when they are consumed by the MCU?
