Jeph Loeb comments on how Marvel TV works around big moments in the MCU

October 30, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel TV, has spoken about how the shows work around major events in the MCU.

One of the biggest events that could possible happen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe took place during Avengers: Infinity War when Thanos snapped his fingers and murdered half the universe.

But how do the Marvel shows handle such an occurrence? Well according to Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb, it’s no easy task. Speaking to ComicBook.com, Loeb said:

“Specifically to that [The Snap], what we’ve said is that only we don’t want to spoil what’s in Avengers 4. Our story comes out before then so in that particular case, when there’s something that cataclysmic, we’ve said that our story takes place before The Snap.”

Loeb went on to discuss how he likes what shows like Runaways are doing to separate themselves from the larger MCU narrative:

“What we like what Josh [Schwartz] and Steph [Savage] is that this is a show that can stay on its own. It can reference the rest of the world, but it’s true to teenagers — they’re not interested in what Tony Stark is doing this week or what Matt Murdock is doing this week but they might be interested in a couple of kids who live down in New Orleans and what’s going on there.”
