Mark Ruffalo limited series I Know This Much Is True gets the green light

October 19, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Last year it was reported that Mark Ruffalo was attached to executive produce and star in an adaptation of Wally Lamb’s 1998 novel I Know This Much Is True, and now comes word that HBO has officially given the project the green light.

The Place Beyond the Pines and Blue Valentine helmer Derek Cianfrance is writing, directing and executive producing the six-episode series, which follows the parallel lives of identical twin brothers Dominick and Thomas Birdsey in an epic story of betrayal, sacrifice and forgiveness set against the backdrop of 20th century America.

Avengers: Infinity War star Ruffalo is set to take on dual roles as both Dominick and Thomas. The project reunites Ruffalo with HBO, with the actor having previously executive produced the Emmy-winning TV movie The Normal Hart for the cable service back in 2014.

Ruffalo will next be seen reprising his Marvel role as Bruce Banner in April 2019’s as-yet-untitled Avengers 4, and is also rumoured for a role in Halloween director David Gordon Green’s next film Newsflash.
