Ryan Reynolds set for a Shotgun Wedding

January 30, 2019 by Ricky Church

Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds is set to star in an upcoming action-comedy Shotgun Wedding according to Deadline. Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect) will direct with Lionsgate and Madenville Films are producing.

Shotgun Wedding will begin filming in the summer with production currently seeking its female lead as well as additional roles. The film will follow a couple whose extravagant destination wedding is taken over by criminals. In the process of saving their families, they rediscover why they wanted to get married in the first place.

The film will see Reynolds re-team with Mandeville’s Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman who produced The Proposal starring Reynolds and Sandra Bullock. The script was written by Mark Hammer with Liz Meriwether collaborating on the screenplay.

“I haven’t done a romantic comedy since The Proposal but I just fell in love with Shotgun Wedding,” said Reynolds. “It’s so refreshing and surprising. I can’t wait to bring it to life with Jason, Todd, Dave and the great team at Lionsgate.”

“We’ve been looking for an opportunity to reteam with Ryan. He’s a rare actor who can do it all and we are so excited to have found the right film for all of us. It’s great to be working with the talented Jason Moore and our great partners at Lionsgate,” said Lieberman and Hoberman.

“Ryan’s trademark wit and action chops have captivated moviegoers around the world, and we have the perfect filmmaker and the ideal property to showcase his incredibly versatile talents,” said Lionsgate President Nathan Kahane. “We can’t wait to bring our next collaboration with Ryan and the amazing Mandeville creative team to theaters.”

Reynolds will be seen next in Pokemon: Detective Pikachu and is set to re-team with Samuel L. Jackson and Salma Hayek for The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard.
