Star Wars: Episode IX wraps filming as J.J. Abrams shares behind-the-scenes image

February 15, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Having returned to close out the Sequel Trilogy after launching things back in 2015 with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, director J.J. Abrams has announced that filming has now wrapped on December’s still-untitled Star Wars: Episode IX.

“It feels impossible, but today wrapped photography on Episode IX. There is no adequate way to thank this truly magical crew and cast. I’m forever indebted to you all,” wrote Abrams, as well as sharing a behind-the-scenes image featuring Daisy Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn) and Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron).

Despite shooting since this past summer, Lucasfilm has managed to keep Episode IX locked down, with very little in the way of set photos and spoilers (genuine, non-Mike Zeroh ones, anyway) making their way online. There’s little to take home from the above photo either, save for the fact we’re in for a return to a desert planet (presumably Jakku?) and that Rey appears to be wielding her staff again.

Now, can we have a title please?
