Arnold Schwarzenegger confirms that he’s playing a Terminator in Dark Fate

May 25, 2019 by Amie Cranswick

This week Paramount Pictures gave us our first look at Terminator: Dark Fate, the upcoming reboot-sequel from director Tim Miller and producer James Cameron, which is set to serve as a direct sequel to Terminator 2: Judgment Day, as well as reuniting cast members Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton for the first time since the 1991 movie.

If you only watched the trailer and not the accompanying behind-the-scenes video, you may have been left scratching your head with regards to Arnold’s role. He was only featured in a single shot, and it wasn’t clear whether his character was human (as has been heavily rumoured) or a Terminator.

Well, posting as part of a Reddit Q&A following the release of the trailer, Schwarzenegger himself has cleared up any confusion, stating that: “I’m a cybernetic organism. Living tissue over a metal endoskeleton.”

So, if Arnold is reprising his role as the Terminator, does that mean he’s been living in the “past” and aging for a few decades a la Terminator Genisys? Perhaps he was sent back shortly after the events of T2 to protect (or kill) John Connor, and somehow ended up with Sarah? Let us know your thoughts and theories in the comments below, or tweet us @FlickeringMyth..

Terminator: Dark Fate is being directed by Tim Miller (Deadpool), with James Cameron producing, and sees Arnold Schwarzenegger (T-800) and Linda Hamilton (Sarah Connor) reprising their roles alongside new cast additions Mackenzie Davis (Blade Runner 2049), Natalia Reyes (Lady), Diego Boneta (Pretty Little Liars) and Gabriel Luna (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.).

Terminator: Dark Fate is set for release on October 23rd in the UK and on November 1st in North America.
