Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers star Karen Gillan has revealed to Variety that she’d like to get behind the camera to direct a future Marvel movie.
“I keep asking Kevin Feige when that’s going to be, I’m still waiting” said Gillan, who portrays the character of Nebula in the MCU and made her feature directorial debut with last year’s The Party’s Just Beginning. “I wouldn’t just do any film. I think it would need to be one where I had a strong feeling that I was the best person for the job. Obviously that’s not every movie that comes your way.”
Gillan will presumably return as Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and the actress went on to share her thoughts on Disney’s decision to bring James Gunn back into the fold after originally firing the director last year over controversial tweets:
“His personality, the tone of those movies, I can only describe as James’ personality. It’s his sense of humor, his writing, his taste in music. These characters are extensions of him. It’s a really personal project for him. It definitely wouldn’t have been the same version of Guardians.”
