Tom Holland describes Peter’s relationship with Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home

Tom Holland, the star of Spider-Man: Far From Home, has described the relationship between Peter and his strange new ally Mysterio.

While Avengers: Endgame is still driving serious ticket sales around the world, fans are starting to look to the future of the MCU and the upcoming release of Spider-Man: Far From Home. In the film we see Peter interacting with his new ally Mysterio (played by Jake Gyllenhaal), a character that has traditionally been a villain in the comics.

What’s this strange new relationship all about? Well, Tom Holland did his best to describe the connection the two have in a recent set visit with ComicBook.com: “He’s awesome, man. Jake and I got on really well, and it’s interesting because when you hear the word Mysterio as a Spider-Man fan, you immediately think villain and that’s not the case in our film. He’s a new addition to this world of heroes, he’s my team-mate throughout the movie. It’s funny because Jake is such a great guy and we get on really well. It’s been fun fighting these crazy monsters with him.

“It’s very much big brother, little brother. Nick Fury’s the head teacher who is constantly telling me off because I don’t want to really be there, I want to go on holiday. And Mysterio is always the one sticking up for me and patting me on the back and telling me I did a good job. Which is funny. There’s really funny moments in the film, where I feel like I haven’t done a good job, and Mysterio’s like, ‘Good job, kid!'”

It certainly sounds like a fun relationship! The good news is that there isn’t all that long left until the film’s early July release date.

Spider-Man: Far From Home will be released on July 2nd and features the return of Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Marisa Tomei (Aunt May), Zendaya (Michelle), Jacob Batalon (Ned Leeds), Angourie Rice (Betty Brant), Tony Revolori (Flash Thompson), Martin Star (Mr. Harrington), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), with Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler) as Mysterio and J.B. Smoove (Uncle Drew), Remy Hii (Crazy Rich Asians) and Numan Acar (Homeland) in undisclosed roles.
