The Tick fails to find a new home following Amazon cancellation

June 20, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Fans of The Tick received some bad news last month when Amazon announced that it had cancelled the superhero comedy series after two well-received seasons, although creator Ben Edlund did offer a lifelong by stating that the producers were actively searching for a new home for the show.

Well, sadly it appears that those efforts have been unsuccessful, as Edlund has now provided the following update on Twitter:

“After much door-knocking we have found no new home for the Tick series in this current market. #SaveTheTick & #LunaTickArmy I’m sorry we could not reward your glorious support with better news. I am so proud of the show, of the cast and crew and writers, and so warmed by the fans. We will look for other opportunities to continue this story with this cast, but the current series must I’m afraid come to its end. Please continue to choose love and hope for good things. And I think we might as well accept it as a law of the universe: when the time is right The Tick always comes back…”

Given that Edlund makes reference to “other opportunities”, maybe it’s possible that we might see the cast reuniting in some other medium… another animated series, perhaps?

The first two seasons of The Tick are available to watch now on Amazon, and see Peter Serafinowicz as the titular superhero alongside Griffin Newman, Jackie Earle Haley, Valorie Curry, Brendan Hines, Yara Martinez, Scott Speiser, Michael Cerveris, John Pirkis and Alan Tudyk also featuring in the cast.
