Christoph Waltz’s Blofeld returning for Bond 25

July 12, 2019 by Amie Cranswick

It seems that Rami Malek’s as-yet-unrevealed character won’t be the only villain going up against Daniel Craig’s 007 in Bond 25, as Christoph Waltz has been confirmed as reprising his Spectre role as Bond’s arch-enemy Ernst Stavro Blofeld.

As reported by Daily Mail journalist Baz Bamigboye, Waltz was spotted on the Pinewood set of the as-yet-untitled Bond 25, with the Oscar-winning telling a visitor “You haven’t seen me” when spotted.

Details on the level of Waltz’s involvement in the film are being kept under wraps, but according to The Playlist Blofeld is unlikely to feature in any significant capacity, and “returns in a kind of Silence Of The Lambs-like appearance; Clarice Starling (in this case Lea Seydoux), visiting him in prison and trying to mine him for information about Malek’s sadistic character.”

Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica.  His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.

Bond 25 is set for release in the UK on April 3rd 2020 and in the U.S. on April 8th 2020 and stars Daniel Craig (James Bond), Ralph Fiennes (M), Naomie Harris (Moneypenny), Rory Kinnear (Tanner), Léa Seydoux (Madeleine Swann), Ben Whishaw (Q) and Jeffrey Wright (Felix Leiter), while new additions include Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody), Ana de Armas (Blade Runner 2049), Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel), Billy Magnussen (Velvet Buzzsaw), Dali Benssalah (A Faithful Man) and David Dencik (Top of the Lake).
