Coming off the back of strong reviews out of the Toronto International Film Festival and potential awards talk for Jennifer Lopez, the stripper crime dramedy Hustlers has given STX Entertainment its best ever opening weekend at the North American box office with $33.2 million across the Friday to Sunday period.
Although it finished up in second place behind It Chapter Two ($40.7 million), Hustlers comfortably toppled Bad Moms ($23.6 million) for STX’s biggest opening, while it also delivered a weekend best for Jennifer Lopez in live-action surpassing the $23.1 million haul of Monster-in-Law back in 2005.

The $20 million-budgeted film also grossed a further $4.5 million internationally this weekend, and should go on to prove a solid financial success for STX, particularly if the studio can keep the Oscar-buzz for Lopez going over the coming weeks.
HUSTLERS, which is inspired by a viral 2016 New York Magazine article, follows a crew of savvy former strip club employees who band together to turn the tables on their Wall Street clients. Their scheme pays off and the women ride a wave of extravagance, living a life of decadence and glamour. But when greed gets the best of them, friendships are threatened and the law starts closing in.
Hustlers stars Constance Wu, Jennifer Lopez, Julia Stiles, Keke Palmer, Lili Reinhart, Lizzo, Cardi B, Mercedes Ruehl, Trace Lysette, Mette Towley, Madeline Brewer, Stormi Maya, Tia Barr, Doris McCarthy, Steven Boyer, Vanessa Aspillaga, and Ken Holmes.
